Wahooooooooooooooooooooooo

Post: # 42501Post paradox »

We have just had a phone call from the council our new house is ready to move into and were going to sign the tennancy agreement this afternoon and collect the keys.
Im so happy as this is going to be our first proper home and without any need to move every 2 years.

I cant wait to start clearing the jungle of a garden ready for a veg patch and to start off my compost bins.

Well done ParaD.

I was talking to a friend last night about council housing lists - I put my name down for one when I first moved here.

20 years later, I bet I'm no nearer the top of the list. Not that I'm in need of housing ATM.

Enjoy your new home.

I'm really happy for you Paradox.

I've lived in many rented flats and houses in London and know full well the feeling of having to move so often. I always gardened anyway and had to leave so many plants behind every time.

Having somewhere permanent is just fantastic. Enjoy!

Thanks for all the kind words people.
We collected the keys yesterday and they even gave us a free energy saving lightbulb which was nice but the list of things were not allowed to do without applying for permission seemed endless and when i asked about insulation grants for the loft and maybe cavity walls i was told they are only available to private home owners which was upsetting.

Well i cant complain too much im more lucky than a lot of people.

Some of my freinds have agreed to come at weekend and start helping me to clear the garden as id never manage it on my own with being ill so i will take some photos and post them up so you guys can see how im progressing.

Great news Paradox and we wish you every happiness in your new home!!

Seems odd tho that they won't let you apply for a loft insulation or cavity wall insulation grant when its usually the local councils housing departments that promote such things!!! And it would be an improvement to their property!!! How daft are local councils!!!

Good luck anyway and lots of happiness!
