New Year Resolutions - do you or don't you?

Post: # 44472Post hedgewitch »

Well yep it's that time of year again when I start thinking about all the changes I'm going to make in my life for the new year and it got me wondering how many of the ishers make New Year resolutions. Do you keep them? Are you making any this year? If so what are they?

Sorry to be a bore, but the reason for my new years resolution has a story!! I just hope that I don't sound like I'm blowing my own trumpet - thats really not my intention.
Yesterday whilst out shopping for cat food I had a quick wander round some of the other shops that happened to be open. I fancied a treat so I picked up some fancy bath stuff that was reduced to 99pence in the sale. At the counter the assistant offered me the chance to buy some perfume at a reduced price. I asked for a smell and decided it was rather nice so I'd have a bottle. The elderly lady next to me commented on how nice it was and when her turn cam at the counter she asked for a bottle, only to be told that I'd bought the last one. A little crestfallen she said never mind. With that I reached into my bag and gave her my bottle, wishing her a merry christmas. The lady was thrilled and gave me a big hug - something which gave me the greatest of pleasure - much more than a bottle of perfume. So, my new years resolution is to perform more random acts of kindness and to encourage my family to do so too. Its not because I want us to be some kind of hyper saintly do-gooders, but rather its just to spread a little joy others and hope that it catches on - the world sure could do with it!!!

Its a wee bit late to wish you all a very merry Christmas - but hey so what I'll wish it anyway!! And we send you all our best wishes for a happy and prosperous new year

And let us be kind

Naaah, I'm perfect me!!

Well no, ok, maybe not resoloutions but a few things;

I'm going to be good and save money - We've got a wedding date booked for the 26th of May and we're also looking to buy a house. This is the first year I've ever had it so I have a proper, well paying job exactly what I'm going to be doing. I'm going to work hard, save money and work towards a better financial grounding for me and my OH.

Me too.

I resolve to put on more weight and lose more hair. (If you are going to have resolutions they should be acheivable!)

I also resolve to have a go at making my own laundry power, re-doing my gutters so that ALL of my stormwater is directed into tanks and eating better.

I'm going to organise my growing this year, so i don't end up with a bit of a mess like last year.

I'm going to preserve things
I'm going to make mre of my own stuff, like jam, and cakes and bread and stuff like that.

I'm going to attempt to find a decent blokey. The one i had wasn't good enough! He didn't like to see me covered in mud, beetroot in hand. And he didn't like full moons...

I'm going to work hard at work (hmm...) so i get a payrise.

i WILL save money every month, otherwise my drems will never come true.
I will sell more stuff on eBay...and buy less.

I WILL sort out my mountains of clutter and either sell, throw or give away.

I think that's enough resolutions to break before jan 2nd!

I am going to try this year though, I'm going to write them all in the frint of my diary so that i look at them every week at least.

Oh...and i will try very hard to remember friends' birthdays/anniversaries.

I've been attempting random acts of kindness for a few years now-if we all start doing them them we will one day be the recipient of one! they don't always end up as you think, I bought a homeless person on the street a pack of sarnies, I was on a food run so I thought ah ha! one extra cheese sarnie won't break the bank and it can be todays RAK. Had it thrown back at me as she couldn't drink it, sarnie went on floor out of packet not fit for consumption. Oh well

kind thoughts
Deb

PS When I was a snoker I have also had cigerettes given back to me as they were menthol!

NY resolutions are not for me - the only one I've ever managed to keep was never to make another one!

I've got some general directions I want to go in but that's about it.

Might just try some RAK though - you probably made that lady's Christmas Milims.

I suppose not.
Rules are there to be broken, aren't they?
If I'm going to make changes for a new year, then I tend to have the plans to execute them in place by Jan 1st. Well they'll be made or broken by ...
I'm all for RAK -perhaps it should be an "'ish thing"?

I love New Year resolutions, but I think they're too good to save just for New Year. I'm going to continue my search for "the good life", I've got a few plans and goals for 2007. I love the feeling of a new year, a new leaf, a fresh start and a clean slate.
