Question for Kiwis

Post: # 44926Post Boots »

I have just begun laying out this years breeding/births and whatnot in this years diary...

The Headers in my diary read:

MONDAY JANUARY 1. New Years Day
TUESDAY JANUARY 2. Day after New Years Day (NewZealand)

Do you folks have a special reason for celebrating the day after New Years Day, or Do you just drink a lot and tend to forget where you're at???

Why does it say that?

Must be all the Scottish immigrants who decided on that extra day holiday. There's a lot of 'em down south!

Boots,

You got me intrigued! I had a hunt on Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holidays_in_New_Zealand; seems to explain it.

lol

Its because the day after New Years Day is a public holiday here, I think you folk in the UK call them bank holidays. So I only had to go back to work today, which gave me a little extra time to get over New Years Eve :drunken:

Gidday

Don't worry Altica, it's only a couple of Assies jeolous that we are smart enough to wiggle an extra day off.
Cheers
Jack
