I just been over to West Island to see the land of Oz. At long last I have actually seen one. Oh! Sorry about that, I was meaning a Wombat.

A mate who managed to survive a run in with one of these gristly guys, said it was just like driving straight into a boulder. The wombat just picked himself up and wombled off, and the guy spent 8 months in a hospital bed.

Well here's the trip in a bit more detail.


When we got to the Land of Oz we found some of the locals rather high and mighty:


But then we met some who were quite friendly:


But some really did get quite up and close, or should I say really down to it:




But one thing that I did learn is you caint trust the buggers because they will even pinch ya tucker outa ya bag:


We even got to see a bit of their history when we visited Ballarat:


And our Grandson even got on the stage, not performin, the other type:


And when we got down to Geelong, by car not that stage coach, I was talked into gettin onta one of those damned ferris wheels:


We had a drive around the south coast which some people found quite tiring:


But at least I did get some good pics of the Southern Ocean:


But I suppose I could say so what cos it is the same damned ocean that we have got over here.

Anyways, those bloody women even managed to get me into the big glitzy city of Melbourne:


But that sure aint me. I'm just a rough country boy and one thing for bloody sure is I aint no fan of their countryside and what they call grass:


And sure As hell this old boy is real glad to be back to see the green green grass of home and look accoss the valley to see the hills of New Zealand:



And when I sit and think back on the trip, you may find this hard to believe but the highlight of it all for me was meeting a little joker who is very similar to a Kiwi in more ways than one.

Those are wonderful photos and you have a great sense of humour! Loved it, especially the Wombie at the end (and the naughty roos...... and the koala!).

Is that how dry it is over there then with their drought? Scary.

It is very dry here at the moment M3, and very scary. a water catchment that is half full is a good one. many are bone dry. The scary thing is that the boffins are saying that the term they are using - Drought - is a misnomer. This new rainfall pattern is likely to be here to stay, not break like a conventional drought. I hope they are wrong!
