Winter feed............i gave my sheep about 1 bag per ewe through the winter--------hardly equal to the amount of fuel to chill and transport a ewe from NZ.
But when all the maths are sorted you have to remember the vast cheap farming potential of the new EU members which has untill now been under used, but not for much longer methinks and what a good excuse to say NZ products produce too much carbon because of the transport.
New Zealand Lamb?
I'm not sure how they come up with those figures, and how they work out carbon footprints per country.... is it because we have so many trees in NZ that they are carbon credits???? I don't know... I would have thought it would be cheaper to raise and sell lamb in your own country.. I grow my own so it's not a problem. NZ lamb is good lamb, and the more we can export the better for us, but I can't see how they can say it is less of a carbon foot print to raise sheep here than in Europe. I feed out every winter to suppliment the feed, I use hay.... my sheep probably fart as much as their English counterparts..
... I struggle to get a grip on this...

New Zealand rocks ma sox off
