I got pretty sunburnt on Sunday. And have you seen the amount of hedgerow blossom that's been out for a couple of weeks already?

But... still don't think we're past the possiblity of frosts.

It's even hot in Aberdeenshire. I've never known it to be quite so warm so early in the year... yes we often get some good warm sunny days in mid-late April but not the last day of MARCH!

Downside... yes, there is one... we are low on water already :(

Glad to hear you are concerned about water already because I've been wishing for some rain! I've got one last patch of veggie patch to dig and it is bloody hard work cos the soil is drying out so quickly.

Also with the amount of water my ducks are going through my water butts are getting lower by the day too.

My clay soil is cracking alarmingly already. The last rain we had was at least a week ago if not more. It's a bit scary really that we are running out of water already.

I guess it's my fault. I emptied one of my water butts into the pond so that I could fix the leeky tap. So the chances of it raining now to fill it up again are very low.

Sorry guys
Zoe

Of course - oh Master, ask and I shall obey! But then that would be unfair on all those poor security guards who have to do their rounds at night. So, you see, my conscience just wouldn't allow it!

It's OK Zoe, you can share the blame with me. We had to get rid of 500 litres because the wooden base that the butt was standing on was collapsing!

It didn't get wasted actually, between the ducks, some turf we'd 'transplanted' and plants newly planted out, it just got used!

Phew
Thanks, that was a lot of responsibility to bear on my own. Mine wasn't wasted either as my pond has dropped about 3 inches so far this year.

It wasn't just you two either. I had to empty my water butt. The contents stank to high heaven and it needed a good clean. i couldn't even trust that water on my plants.

Even the flukey-sluggy things were dying in it...
