wow - that is a lot of clearing. Congratulations on the lot! I remember when I could start my first garden. Very exciting - and so much work to clear the space.
Reminds me of my neighbour's back yard, which borders mine.
I'm so afraid that she'll try to sell the house and want to just cover it with roundup and rolled-on turf to look better! (I have been told that is what someone did to my yard a few years ago).
I wish I had the time to tidy it for her and replant with "alternative" lawn such as wildflowers or different types of grass. We have very sloped yards, so it's not as if a new family would want it cleared for children to play in (the only reason *I* can see for having grass-lawn).
I really should talk with her about her plans... as I suspect she may be moving this summer.

Well that's another 3 hours of digging done, I'd almost finished the first bed when one of the allotmenteers came over for a chat. Apparently it isn't dandelions but a variety of hawkweed which can be happily dug or rotovated in! 
There are a few dandelions and a couple of bits of bindweed though so I'll be going over the ground taking them out then probably hire a rotovator as I have quite a few squashes and things ready for planting.
