Grrr...damn slugs are at it again
I had 2 peter peppers coming up - a whole 2! They'd just started to get their true leaves.
I went in the greenhouse today, and some little slug has eaten them! They've gone! Along with some tomatoes, and all my salad leaves.
Do you think i can find the thing anywhere? Oh no, the thing has gone into hiding. mauybe it knows a boot is on the way if i find it...

heh !
well apart from the taking to supermarket suggestion.. it is a problem - ducks would be a good thing here.. there are so much better at eating slugs and snails than chickens.. however dont have either at the mo - we tried putting them in the compost bin the council take away,,, but thye crawl out. so im afraid... and this is not ideal.. they get tied up in a bread bag and binned. sorry.
someone suggested drowning.. but i actually saw a snail draag itself out of the bucket.. I know our mehtod is landfill and prolly cruel.. any suggestions welcomed.

Some people mentioned cutting them in half and leaving them for the birds.
Or - put sugar water in the tub, let them drown and then leave them for the birds.
I left the slugs a nice pint last night - they've got 8 pots of lager waiting for them...call it a peace offering

I keep trying to educate my puppy on the nutritional goodness of slugs - he hasn't quite got the idea yet though

I went out on another slug hunt last night and was (happily) surprised how unsuccessful I was - I think the grand total was three snails. Maybe previous efforts have sent the local populations into precipitous decline, maybe all my neighbours have poisoned them with approaches that are less organic than a sharp knife or maybe it's just too dry round here at the moment for them to thrive?
