allotments funding etc
ok where my allotment is in worksop there is spasmotic vandalism/pilfering i know we have to live with this but at mansfield they have got funding to do things up etc. my local council does not spend much on there allotments this seems crazy i know this is a common problem are peopkle aware of funding, starting a steering group they were told about a leaky tap which got fixed by a allotment holder,we have no steward on our site i have thought about it but i have not been there long ie 4 weeks we have manged to turn round three quarters of our allotment. i would really like to find out how you access funding and other avenues.so how do i motivate my council to access funding etc.

Hi Gunners, I'm sorry but I've no idea but just had to write this as I saw mention of Mansfield and I was watching that prog last night on the worst and best places to live in the UK. My husband was in hysterics because Mansfield was one of the worst and he comes from nearby, Edwinstowe.
Hope someone can help you with your question!

Hi Gunners,
There is a lot of funding out there. It's finding it. Here in Wildy Wiltshire we have a 5 Towns Initiative that finds and gets funding for local groups. You have to have a committee and a bank account, we have done this for a small playground that needs refurbishing. Providing the allotments are owned by the council, I should imagine there is a pot of money waiting for you to get hold of.
It takes ages to get it, but stick at it!
We got some funding from an organisation that funds open spaces. If you set up a committee and say it's a community project, you may get somewhere. You may have to do a bit of fundraising to show willing as well.
Someone at your council should know something.
