Toilet

Hi,

Would anyone like a used toilet cistern?

I only used it for a year or so before it was replaced and cant bring myself to throw it away. Its not a "close coupled" one but does have all the internal stuff.

Things I would like (wish list...but if anyone wants the cistern they can have it for nothing!)

Any musical instruments
Any books on Japanese gardening or martial arts
Any wood (not pine) eg bits of oak
Old woodworking tools

Then let me know :-)

Wonder how recycible this sort of stuff is?

I have a complete loo and bath I am about to replace, and it had not occurred to me that the old ones would be anything more than skip material.

They are getting replaced as the sink in the bathroom is smashed and the floor rotten, and hence its time to redecorate and rearrange and much as I like to make do and mend it would make no sense in this case.

On my daily walk some months ago I passed a skip with a steel bath in it, after asking permission, it is now in my backyard as a fishpond!

We are talking a naff modern fibre glass bath here, nothing great about it.

I guess it could still be used to grow stuff in, I have heard of people using bath tubs for container growing. Dave uses an old belfast sink for his herbs. On a largish patio with a few other tubs around it would not look that bad either. even the toilet could be used as a container

So you could end up with an outside bathroom full of plants
Sorry cath this is not getting rid of your toilet, you say you are interested in musical instruments there is a post on here for a flute it you are interested.

I did consider whether the bath coould be used as a pond, but frankly round here, I do not think we would achive much apart from sending the house price down the toilet

Anyway at least the loo is now on the drive way :) Tomorrow the sink should join it, all dreadfully slow and systematic compared to one of those TV makeover shows, but i'm determined to end each day with hot and cold running water and a working bath. It is bad enough that I had to take the shower out

My mum just changed her bath and I have nabbed it! I have filled bottom with stones for drainage and obviously left the plug out (he he - )

Then a layer of straw and then to the top with compost. I am hoping it will work for nice long straight carrots etc. I have a couple of old panes of glass from the greenhouse that I intend to put over the top to help with warmth (sort of cold frame - clotch). I will let you know how it goes.

I will have to try and post a picture when in full growth.

once the veggie was finished Margo could always lay in the bath with a glass of wine - from home grown grapes obviously.

lots of people on my lottie site use old baths for ponds and they are full of frogs, others use them to grow gooseberries in as it prevents the runners from getting everywhere
