You have a barrel of oil, and you need to measure out just one gallon. How do you do this if you only have a three-gallon container and a five-gallon container?

Tee Hee - glad someone got the Scotsman riddle!!

The oil one - fill the three gallon container and tip it into the five gallon. Fill the three again and tip two into the 5 and you are left with the one gallon you want.

The answer to my riddle is;

The Prince of Wales is an heir apparent.

A bald headed man has no hair apparent.

An orphaned boy has no parent.

A monkey's mother is a hairy parent.
