Elderflower Cordial - 24hrs vs. 5 days
Elderflower Cordial - 24hrs vs. 5 days
I have read in various recipes for Elderflower cordial and some say leave overnight (or for 24 hours) and some say leave for 5 days. Has anyone tried both? Which is best?
I just made cordial for the first time ever and used the SSish recipe - which says leave for 5 days - and it worked fantastically! Love it! I added a couple of oranges too and just cut all the citrus up in to chunks and made sure I bashed them every time I gave the mixture a stir.
And a tip for you - when you're straining it, put aside the lemon (and orange, if using) chunks and they make a delicious treat to eat. And if you manage to not eat them all put the remainder to soak in cachaca (sp?) or rum or vodka overnight, strain it, and serve on ice as a delicious sundowner
...well, I didn't have any sun, but it still tasted great!
