What a lovely pear!

Post: # 64420Post mybarnconversion »

Sorry, but I couldn't help myself with the carry-on film like pear / pair reference

I have pear tree and I'd love to know what variety of pear it is (my OCD applies to such things).

I've posted a picture of it over on my blog ... my pear tree ...didn't want to muck up SSish with big images, if you could take a look and hazard a guess as to variety (I'm not expecting anything too exotic) I'd be very grateful.

Thanks!

ooh red ones! Could they be Williams? I do see some red ones in the shops but not often so I think they must be rarer than the Conference or other green varieties, in France anyway. The only ones I know because we have them are Conference which have a gritty texture and a variety of Beurre (with an e acute accent) which is earlier and a lovely soft buttery texture (what beurre means in french).

When does it fruit by the way, that will help a bit with finding out what it is.

That is a live action photo (well a week or so ago) which is really what has thrown me -- I'm usually an apple man and these pears seem soooo early!

what did they taste like?
there is a pear called robincould that be it?

I'm picking lots of pears now - all tree fruit seems early this year.. some of my bramleys are ready too.
I dunno what my pear variety is either - we asked the previous owner, but she just picked up a windfall pear that was half eaten half gone bad and said 'bluddy useless' and threw it away. so thats what we call the pear now....
My kitchen table is covered with bowls of pears (along with green tomatoes turning red) ripening... frozen loads..

I like like minded people... a bit like minded anyway.. well people with bits of their minds that are like the bits of my mind that I like...
