St Swithin’s Day, if it does rain
Full forty days, it will remain
St Swithin’s Day, if it be fair
For forty days, t'will rain no more
.

well so far so good - its just a bit muggy here - lets just hope it stays like that!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

The 18th July is the end of our 40 days of rain due to it raining on the French equivalent Saint Medard on 8th June!

Forecast doesn't look too promising though!

What if you've had 40 days of rain preceding St Swithun's day? It certainly rained a bit here (fortunately I had just got in from the park before it opened up the barrels!).

St Swithin's Day was sunny here, but today it's overcast, cold, windy and - yes - raining. So much for that, then.

Oh come on Stoney, cheer up. Now you've had 4 nice sunny days since April 30th!

I'm very cheery about the rain, especially when it's a proper plump to get everything drookit. It's the dreich days in between the rain and the sunshine that leave us feeling draggled and dowie.

What I'd really like is lauchin' rain - but that's asking a lot!

(Lauchin' rain is rain that falls from clear blue sky.)
