the postponed documentary on "the Great Green Smokescreen" debunking things like "offsetting" -more details here - http://www.channel4.com/news/articles/d ... een/589267
-let's hope it's better than the scurrilous Durkin documentary which totally denied global warming was happening because of mankind's actions.........

Offsetting - anybody else reminded of 'indulgencies' that you could once buy from the Pope, and in return you were allowed to sin with a clear conscience?

I missed the begining of the program - was good though - underlines once again that there are alot of people into just making money out of being green

did they explain the big foot air balloon btw? I just kept wondering what the carbon footprint of *that* was....

The intensive pig unit was as disgraceful as all factory farming - and I have noticed that there a great many people adding bells and whistles to intensive units, and claiming that they're "green" by doing so! Apparently there are schemes in the US whereby highly toxic intensive pig waste is used to feed plants hydroponically -and they're trying to get it branded "organic" :?
I'm all for tree planting, and I was impressed by the sincerity of some of the people with plantations, but fear they're being rather taken advantage of by the money men!
Overall, as someone said during the programme, there's no point paying someone else to go on a diet!

I think the giant foot was the volume of carbon that each person gives off in a day.
