No Burns Here!

Post: # 65284Post the.fee.fairy »

I managed it!

I made soap without blowing myself or the kitchen up - i didn't even get burnt with the lye!

I made Egg and lemongrass Orange shampoo soap. It's been made in a pringles tub and half a juice carton.

I have to say a big big thankyou to Chickpea (i haven't seen her around lately come to think of it - is she ok?!) for her great instructions on the front page.

Coconut ice soap is underway, its made in 2 layers and layer one (the white coconut one) is curing as i write.

I managed to burn myself this time though :(

I've got a tiny burn on the side of my nose...i had an itch and didn't check my gloves first for lye... It should heal soon though, i flushed it with vinegar as soon as i realised, and then with plenty of water. Its just a red mark now.

The shampoo soap made loads!! When its cured, i won't need to buy shampoo for months! It smells a bit odd though - i'm hoping that it will smell nicer as it cures. If not, i'll remelt it and put some more EO in - i misjudged the amount originally and probably underfragranced it.

I fit a lot into my days off!

I had Sunday and Monday off this week, so i made the soap and the shampoo.

I finished early yesterday (i worked 10-6, rather than 2-11 like normal) so i came home and made biscuits and cakes, and planted out the last of the tomatoes and the squash.

I can't sit down and do nothing, or sit down for any length of time, so i have to find things to keep me busy!! I just wish i could knit and type at the same time, then i wouldn't be wasting 9 hours a day at work!! I also don't go to sleep til 2am, because of the late hours i work, so last ngiht, i was home at 7 and didn't go to bed til 2.

Hee hee - once upon a time I had a great temp job in Sydney when I was doing my working holiday year there. I was the switchboard operator for the corporate office of a well known aussie brewery. I had so little work I used to take my knitting in with me and in a 3 month assignment I managed to make loads of things. I used to type the odd letter here and there and it got so the guys needing the letters done would sort of grovel and apologise for taking me away from my knitting.......

Get some speech recognition software - then it would go like this:

"Hi, click, fee, click, here, click click click!"
