Selfsufficientish.com Supermarket Survey
Following a - shall we say passionate? - debate on another thread I have written the following.
Selfsufficientish.com Supermarket Survey

It will only take you a couple of minutes to complete. I'll post the results in a few days when its had a few people complete it.
It was knocked together in a hour and bit so be gentle with it!
I'll repost it as a new topic as well. The result could be interesting.

lol thanks, I've done loads of them before so I'm getting quick at them now. Nearly everyone of my degree assignments contains the words "conduct a survey".Meredith wrote:Excellent for an hour and a bit.

Why I put together the survey:
It’s entirely up to you if you take the survey or not.
Thanks
Tom
- 1. I was getting confused with what the general consensus was regarding supermarkets. Some people hated one in particular, some all of them and others were not bothered.
I was interested to know (as I guess a few people would be) the answers to the questions in the survey.
- 2. I was going to add one of the polls that’s build into the forum but that only allows one questions and is a little simplistic. As I mentioned above I’ve had to do loads of this kind of web based survey before for my degree (which is in Information Systems) so I just knocked one together.
- 3. It started out as just a couple of questions (the last two) but then my training kicked in and I had a little frenzy in trying to cover all the angles. I could have carried on for pages!
- 4. I was bored! There was nothing on telly!
- 5. Believe it or not I actually enjoy writing PHP code (the scripting language used to process and store the results) so it was not a chore to write.
It’s entirely up to you if you take the survey or not.
Thanks
Tom

Yes, but I think grouping them together is a mistake. I know in the UK most market stalls are run by full time business people, but that is not the case worldwide. In NZ the markets are a combination of business stalls and a farmer selling their excess produce and small holders selling whatever they have grown. Markets really are a very different type of business to buy fromMillymollymandy wrote:Markets come under 'small specialist' - mentioned at the top of the survey.possum wrote:you have missed one thing out, what about markets I shop there as much as possible and would like to be able to shop there for everything
Opinionated but harmless
As I said, I could have extended the survey to many pages!possum wrote:Yes, but I think grouping them together is a mistake. But the main aim was to look at supermarkets so I did "Supermarkets" and "others"

Hi
Good survey. The only problem was that there wasn't an option for "I don't know" in the first question. I honestly don't know if there is a greengrocer in Swindon. I only found out about a butcher last week (and I've been living here for 9 years!).
Edited to say that isn't a criticism of the survey, more a criticism of Swindon where we are forced to rely on the major supermarkets.

Bit late to change it now though as it would throw out previous results. I would just put 0.
