Look, it's only October, OK? Christmas shopping does not start until the middle of December!
How about looking at the merchandise of some of the charitable causes, where your money may also help support something you believe in?

Quite right Muddypause - much too soon to think about Christmas yet!
This year we're buying goats and hens for Africa, a much better use of money than loading up people with more stuff. The Oxfam Unwrapped catalogue is excellent so is CAFOD world gifts. Did you know that £6 can provide 100 kids with a school lunch and that might be the only good meal they get that day? What better time to feed hungry kids than Christmas.
This year our church bought goats at harvest instead of doing the fruit and veg thing - £27 per goat. A family in Africa gets the goat which provides milk etc. - the first female kid is given to another family and so the whole thing carries on. Our goat total to date is 109! And people are still giving. Everyone got really keen on the project as you can 'see' where your money is going.
The other really good Christmas project is Operation Christmas Child which sends shoeboxes of essentials and gifts/toys to areas of need - war zones, famine areas etc. www.samaritanspurse.uk.com. The whole family can get involved in this. See the video link on their website.
Anyway, enough of Christmas, its nearlly Apple Day

I have to admit I have been thinking about Xmas pud but only because I am going to make one this year for the first time ever. And also chestnut stuffing because I've been collecting chestnuts.
Everyone I know who has email get ecards and an emailed letter from us these days - postage is horrendous and what a waste Crimbo cards are. However it is nice to keep in touch so I still have to write cards to those people who aren't online. A lady I know in Holland started last year to reuse her old Xmas cards and send them back to people - seemed a bit odd but it's a good idea when you think about it!
