Great Barbeque Last Night

Post: # 67754Post yugogypsy »

Hi Folks,

We had a great barbeque last night, featuring potatoes on the grill from the garden, a huge salad from the garden and beets from the garden baked and then re-heated on the barbeque.

It was GREAT  We also had salmon, crab, hot dogs and veggie burgers, plus corn on the cob and 2 pies and apple crisp.

I was SO stuffed afterwards all I could do was sit still.

AND the chickens are definitely coming this week, not the Americaunas I hoped for but some nice Rhode Island Red hens, 12 of them.

Rick is putting the ceiling in the coop now and then he'll start on the run.

Hope everyone is having a great summer, and great barbeques with great friends, plus I have a helper from Help exchange (www.helpx.com)

Yum Yum - that sounds fantastic!

Rhode Island Reds are lovely birds - I quite fancy some myself.

Ha... summer and barbecues?? We'd be better off having some mud wrestling competitions here - that said it has been dry for most of today and the next couple of days are forecast to be dry too... better dig the barbie out of the mud and make the most of it

We are hoping to have a BBQ this Saturday - it's my parents Golden Wedding and they are throwing a BBQ party - so please everyone keep your fingers crossed for lots of sunshine!!
Yugo - your bbq sounds fab - I'm quite jealous!! We usually live in the garden during the summer but this year it seems to be only going out to hang the washing or collect veg - the weather just hasn't been good enough to do much else!!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

How many people were you feeding with all that food Lois?!! We managed to have a couple of BBQs last weekend as the weather was suddenly hot - now it is back to cooler temps again.

We had 7 people in all, counting myself, and there was easily enough food for a dozen. The 4 of us staying here right now made a stab at clearing up the leftovers tonight, I think we'll have to freeze some of it.

Our donkey had the corn husks and 2 bran muffins, so he got in on the party too.

I think we'll have another as a farewell party for my help exchange girl when she leaves Aug. 22nd.

And we'll invite more people so we don't have so many leftovers!
