dirt cheap flights

Post: # 69680Post Martin »

are not helping save the planet! :?
I am somewhat horrified to find that my daughter has gone to Edinburgh on business today - by air - she bought a return flight for £61...............
The reason she used it was for speed, and economy - you couldn't drive there for anywhere near that (let alone the hassle and time of doing so) - trains - short-term mortgage job!..........it's all wrong! :geek:

It is a sad factof life Martin - its cheaper to fly than to go by public transport.

If i've travelled to york, its £60 on the train, return. So to Edinburgh, you're looking at £100 odd. Flights for £61 make more sense to the pocket!!

And, in this modern fast paced society, people have to be here yesterday, so i'm betting that your daughter wouldn't be given 3 days off - one to get there, one for the meeting, and one to come home again, so time has to become a major factor.

As much as i don't like short-haul flights (especially domestic ones), should i need to go anywhere a good way away, i will fly. I can't afford not to...

My friend recently flew back to the UK with her 3 kids - its cost her £80 return for them all. Cheap as chips!

If you think that's bad, we've discovered that many people are moving to this part of Scotland and then commuting by air back to Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Birmingham, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester and Cardiff to do their jobs. Some even commute to places in Europe - I know of people who work in Norway and France.

They'll get a shock when fuel prices ratchet up...

I'm planning to go back to Germany this year by bus. Don't dare tell anybody - they'd think I'm mad! Over 24 hours on the bus... At least in this case it is actually cheaper than flying.
