Today our neighbour gave the house its first coat of paint.

It looks great. Tomorrow morning will be the second coat and paint the trim in the afternoon.

I am so happy about it :hello1: , silly to get so excited over a bit of paint  , but I hate green as a paint colour and my house looked like a ripe pea with brick red trim on the bottom, light yellow trim on the top. :pukeright:

Absolutely disgusting.

So after living with it on my own and with friends since 1993 I SQUEEZED the budget this month and got the paint.

So now it'll be a nice Cape Cod grey with a dusky blue trim.

I'll try to post before and after shots when I get a scanner

I agree, green is for the garden not houses! Sounds a lovely colour and I'd love to see some photos!

Well done Lois

That's good news!

PS I knew a bloke who painted his house green once, a silly thing to do becasue it was the exact shade of green that the machinery was painted at the place where her worked. Moral of story: If you are going to steal paint - don't use it on your house!

There is a gorgeous green house near Drymen (Loch Lomond area, Scotland) It is very rich dark green all over, looks like a natural sort of pigment, ooooh it is lovely. Houses used to be painted in all sorts of natural pigments in Scotland, Mohammed Al Fayed was in a legal rangle because he painted his castle bright pink - it was actually the original colour that was made from pigment of the local heather.... completely off the subject, but there we go.

Yes, and there was paint made from milk and natural pigments.

Milk Paint is coming back into fashion too.

If this house had been a dark green I might have been able to live with it, but with the hideous brick red trim and the fact it was all flaking off the back wall made it a necessity to have it painted before winter, as well as wanting a change of colour.

In any case its almost all done now, just the carport to do and put some trim on the windows because they've never had any, it'll help stop some of the winter drafts.
