Ok I'm really upset right now
I've gotten sick of the debate about the Iraq war so I decided to put a link to a web site up showing pics of the dead and mutilated bodies of Iraqi and US. Now you're probably thinking "gee that's a bit much " but I wanted to remind everyone of the reality of what they are actually debating.
the link was taken down........... but this is what gets me pissed, I also put a pic up of Kim Phuc (remember the pic of the little girl running down the road in vietnam half burned alive by Napalm?) apparently that pic is acceptable!
WHTF??????? GGGGRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure...
But, being honest, if i saw a link on here to a site showing dead bodies, i'd delete it. There is no need to injure the dignity of the dead by using them as a political campaign. Snuff movies are illegal, and so should websites showing the dead. Unless you have written permission from each and every parent/partner of the dead, then there is no way their pictures should be in the public domain.
That's my personal feelings on the subject.

I disagree with you about making it illegal to show pictures of dead people without some form of consent , I have supported a website that has quite a shocking gallery for about 7-8 years .
Ive also seen things like jihadi snuff films and if you make every film illegal unless you have the relatives written permission who may very likely be dead your just covering up crimes.
Some of my friends host film of public stoning their former muslims its a apostate site ,and I see what their doing much like people had drawings of slaves being mistreated to educate the public about whats going on to try to stop it.
stopping looking at something nasty doesnt stop that something nasty still existing

This is just my opinion and I hope I don't offend anyone and I'm truely sorry if I do.
Humans are capable of doing horrendous things to each other. The media show sterile pictures where the horrors of the deaths of entire families is cleared away before filming. That way other people in peaceful countries can stay ignorant, untouched by what some people live with every single day.
I have seen images that will haunt me the rest of my life and I'm glad that I know the truth and I am saddened that it is the truth. Personally for me I feel it is an insult to the dead and to their loved ones that we cover up what happened to them, that we keep their stories hushed up, all the while it happens to another person, another family, another community, another race.
What about our soldiers? They see these things first hand, some of them even play apart in the atrocities. But when they come back they are told to pretend that it never happened, that they were never involved and that they are not allowed to talk about it with anyone. They are often scarred for the rest of their lives and have to keep it all locked up inside themselves. All to protect the rest of us.
I can't change anyone else's feelings or opinions about these things. We are each allowed our own opinions.
magenta flame good on you for putting those images out there so that others may learn the truth if they choose.

Just because I can't do everything I won't fail to do something.

Most people recoil from barbarous images, which is, I think a credit to our humanity and long may we not become desensitized. I recall a study quite a few years back where it was proven that pictures of discarded shoe piles proved far more effective in showing the horror of the holocaust than mounds of dead, emanciated bodies. Show people images that are just too graphic and they will simply switch off.

me too, i thought the op had got confused and posted on the wrong forum. Just like to say i know what goes on in most cultures and countrys but i don't want to see pictures/photo's of the dead, i agree with what contadina said, a pile of shoes etc will get people thinking about what's going on instead of them switching the images off and blanking it outred wrote:i still am confused as to why this started to be discussed here.. seem to come out of nowhere...
