we've picked loads - well gathered more than picked.

tonight we cracked a load open and shoved them on a tray in the rayburn, which was on cooking a pot roast.

freshly roasted hazelnuts are lovely!
then, made nut choc chip cookies....

I LOVE hazelnuts!

I have just filled half a bottle of vodka with chopped hazelnuts in the attempt to make hazelnut liquour - its my favourite. The other half of the vodka has boiled sweets in - should be interesting!

Thanks for the reminder -- I spotted a hazelnut tree in an inaccessible place earlier in the summer (actually when I fell into a ditch) ... must get over there and check it later today...

from my own experience of boiled sweet vodka: we separated the colours...

green: loo cleaner taste
yellow and orange: tixylix/ medicine
red: really yummy... just tasted of red I suppose lol!
purple: really wierd, can't put finger on the taste.
plus, to make it sweet enough for me and jim we needed quite a lot of stock syrup. the sweets we crushed for the red and green, but we left the yellow and orange whole. the red and green took 1.5 weeks to dissolve, the other took about 2-3 ish.

miss-spent student dayd :drunken:   :drunken:

we made skittle vodka too, that was nice. peppermint vodka was lovely (t**co economy mint imperials). Chilli had a really scary tast which was wierdly more-ish.
oh how I love my tea, tea in the afternoon. I can't do without it, and I think I'll have another cup very
ve-he-he-he-heryyyyyyy soooooooooooon!!!!

I am new so just caught up with this thread. We have some hazelnut trees planted - only about 5feet tall so far. Anyone know how long it is until they produce. Can't wait to try the hazelnut liquor or and roasted hazelnuts - yum.
