RAF doing my nut in!
the low flying tornado fighters r nothing new around here but, now theyve been using the yurt as a rendezvous! I thought it was coincidence i started receiving nearly daily low flyers directly overhead at all hours until early december i happened 2 be standing outside and 2 of them flew up the croft towards me and they split directly over the yurt. Then today it happened again, twice! Scarin the bejeezus out of the animals too. AArgh!

When we were working in the lake district forests the raf used to do the same thing to us, they used to spot us and take an attack fomation the noise is so loud we could here it above our saws so i am in full sympathy with you and your animals, if it affects the animals wellbeing you can get in touch with the raf and they have to fly over at an acceptable level

I feel for you, but I doubt you can ask them to stop, unless you sugest a different rendevous... They do need the practice and the mountainous terrain and low population levels are exactly why they are there.
Not that I am defending them, but, that is exactly the reason they are there, so they won't move elsewhere, or fly higher.

Camouflage the Yurt ?
Definitely complain to the RAF Station - addressed to the chief of staff or whatever seems apppropriate - they are supposed to be thoughtful about us real humans and our animals.

it says on their website they try to avoid places where they regularily see horses too! They canna see ours apparently? I don't have an immediate neighbour that doesn't have them either. Och well, i won't complain to them like but its a bit nerve wracking being used as target practice especially b4 my first cup o tea in the morn.

Perhaps it's the yurt, they obviously recognise if from their middle east activities, and it's the perfect practice thing. Why not do as we did during the war and try to disguse it with cardboard cut outs to confuse the enemy.
Though I would not recommend doing a "Sadam" and converting it's appereance into a tank or a scud, as it might end in tears

So you know how great Salsify is as a veg, what about Cavero Nero, great leaves all through the winter , then in Spring sprouting broccolli like flowers! Takes up half as much room as broccolli
