<---------- *wildly jumps up and down*.... I HAVE POSTED NOW!!

I am a newbie and agree with the above comments about 'guests' not being able to post. It's not hard to register and then you can at least block their computer if they are up to no good.

Cheers

Floot

i didn't know you could post as a guest - so think stopping guests posting is a good idea, and still keeps it 'friendly' - I can see the side about needing funds but to change it to a paid site would discourage new members for sure- it would put me off as money is very tight. :(

Subtle hint, eh? I must admit I always go straight to the forum nowadays, so had plain forgotten that button was there.

Sorry, don't have my credit card on me just now... :?

:andy:

hello Andy - am having a bit of a prob here. I run a couple of computers out here on a router with very dodgy outback lines. (Tis one of the blessings of being in the bush - NOT). Anyway, what happens is the router feeds back and forth and the comps are constantly redialing on the same connection when both are on.

For some reason, I have to relog in after each post if it co-incides with the changeover, which I don't normally have to do, on other sites I mean. Usually I can just wait for the pause and still post when its my turn. They alternate back and forth every 5-10 mins.

So, if I am not quick... I end up logged out and appear as guest. Is there anyway you or I can maintain my log in?

Another spammer crept in today as a guest log in... Something's not worked as it should?

Boots - I may be barking up the wrong gum tree as I'm a complete technophobe - but - have you checked/ticked the 'log me in automatically each visit' button in your profile?

Cos my ADSL line goes off air quite often but I am always still logged in, unless I have not checked that button.

I haven't deleted the guest post cos Andy might need to look at it - a huge long list of IP addresses this person has used.

No let me know the post, the only reason that there is a big list of IP's is because its for every guest ever.

Not sure about the redialing boots, do you contribute to other forums? It could be that we have a cookie and you have set up not to allow them.

Andy, you've still got your old address on the front page to send the cheque to... Maybe there's piles of money waiting in Bath!

Ah, cheers for pointing that out, got the new address on there now.

Had another spam link on there today, I think I will try using the word censor so that ca sino becomes something else.

heres what happens when someone types that word now

I am a dirty spammer, please let one of the moderators know about this post.

blimey !I've just looked at page 11 of the member list...something I never do...and I see what you mean..you can tell by the names that they are not genuine members...why not ban links to members web sites unless they are submitted and approved by one of the moderators ,or is that too much of a hassle?

Andy, I thought you'd blocked Guest posts - there still seem to be several getting through.
