Excessive packaging

Post: # 81629Post Tomr »

I was reading this [http://consumerist.com/344213/staples-p ... rate-boxes] the other day and thought what a good thing it is that I don’t deal with any companies that do things like that.
Then I got this from ebuyer.com this morning.

Three items, three big boxes and loads of bubble wrap stuff.
All three items were purchased at the same time and were posted at roughly the same time. What a waste. They could have all fitted in the same jiffy bag and been fine.
Might send them and email.

Gosh, your example does seem excessive.

I know companies will over pack out of fear of under-packing. They would rather over pack then risk having products, and thus also their reputation damaged. Also if they overpack they look 'professional' and like they're doing well because they have resources to spare. I suppose it's a kind of conspicious consumption.

I love lush online's stuff when it arrives. I've taken a leaf from their book and started shredding my local paper and any take away menus i don't want once a week to use as packaging. also, it makes it fit better in the recycling bags.
oh how I love my tea, tea in the afternoon. I can't do without it, and I think I'll have another cup very

The reason it is packed like that is citylink like to damage things, have had more than 20 damaged parcels from Ebuyer via citylink..

Oooh OH got some Lush stuff from friends at Christmas. We were both happy to see the packing was old popcorn!

I am psyching myself up to walk across town to get my parcel. it's a mile and a half there, but as i was told on the phone by Tea this morning... 1. i will have Pocky to keep sophie happy when we return,2. i can go via the flower man on the market and get myslf nice bunch, 3. there's an excellent bakery on the way where i can get really good bread and 4.I get out in the sun for a bit.
the only thing that anoys me is having to wait in until the postman has been to my house first so i know theres not going to be another parcel to go out and get tomorrow. might wait until after neighbours this lunchtime.

not really. I'm just allergic to exercise. and if i do too much in a day I have to take it really easy the next day 'cos I've got a dodgy hip; congenital hip dysplasia.
I'm 25. I feel 3 times as old if my hip goes 'cos then i either go everywhere on a walking stick, or use soph's buggy as a zimmer frame.
well, I did the 3 mile round trip. on the walk back sophie porked her way through an entire box of Pocky (ポッキ in japanese). I don't mind, there's very little sugar in them, no serious nasties and the inner stick bit is made of bread.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pocky

I got £50 worth on ebay for £8 and the man selling them used minimal packaging

Glad to hear Pocky aren´t as bad as I thought - I went through a mountain of them when I lived in Brighton!
