yey! I learned to make felt today!! I am training to be a teacher, and imagine my joy and surprise to find out that today we would be learning to make felt! Its sooooo much fun, and really easy.

i remember watching hfw make his felt looked like fun, is thier another way you can teach the children to make it without having to "pee" in a bucket might make a bit of a pong in the classroom :shock:

Hee hee well basically we buy the wool in already washed and dyed so we dont need to wash it in wee! I think it would pong the classroom out somewhat!

I think the pee would have been for indigo dye :lol:

brushed out fleece, soap and hot water a grass mat or bubble wrap and a lot of rolling :D seems to be the norm

well.......in the middle ages they DID wash the fleece in "wee" as you call it .........maybe as a kind of mordant before dyeing, that latter thing I don't know for sure.

"wee" was and is still used in indigo baths indeed, and it sounds VERY smelly.
but not as smelly as you would think.
you can make up your own "fake wee" indigo bath with.......rit dye remover......and guess how the stuff is called that is in there.
