I am a mere starter on the self suffish trail of life. I think that even if we all do a little to help ourselves to a better quality way of living that's good enough for me.

Unfortunately, I don't live in oodles of space, just a semi detached house with a little garden, that's rented. BUT...I recycle lots, grow a few veggies and fruits, home cook as much as possible and work when I choose to, around my family. I love eating good wholesome food and having a big baking session once a week. (which I am doing right now!)

I am seriously thinking of having just two chickens, even with the avian flu problem about. I have been umming and ahhing about having them for a while now. I think if I take the necessary precautions, me and my chooks will be fine.

Saving energy is my next mission. We use too much in this place! It's something else work towards.

Thanks Nev,

I am hoping either to get a rescue battery hen or two or another type of good layer that someone recommended to me. I wrote it down in a very safe place (you know those places!) and the piece of paper has been snaffled by my son.
