Some of you may remember me..I'm the nutter with Nora the motorbike and sidecar living in France..we moved over here because we could not afford enough land in the UK for our self-sufficiency project.
Well lots of things have changed, not least the motorbike and sidecar have been replaced by a Virago (poor man's Harley!) with electric start. John used to go ashen trying to get the combination to go!! Now he just goes ashen when I have to hang onto his kneck to haul myself onto the bike!! I feel like Penelope Pitstop with my chiffon scarve floating in the wind. Grow old disgracefully, that's our motto!!
Our children are having secret negotiations to have us sectioned!!
Unfortunatley due to the volume of work needing to be done on the house we have had to abandon the self-sufficiency project. However we had the most brilliant year raising pigs, ducks, geese, rabbits and of course chickens. Infact there is still loads of meat in the freezer (sorry to any vegetarians). End of the month when weather permits we are going to Pressac market to buy some chickens, ducks and geese..just to keep the grass and weeds down in the bottom field, and also because I miss having them around.
We kept the pigs in a mobile pig tractor..as seen on the web site Mother Earth..worked a treat and was great for Doris and Tilly. Much to the amusement of our French neighbors. Now we have just slung our chicken A frame up on a scaffolding pole between two of our cherry trees with a ladder coming down. AKA River Cottage. It didn't get very good feed back on the River Cottage forum but we will wait and see.
Our biggest news is that we have bought a property in Bulgaria and spent three months over there. We hope to be moving out there next year...who knows where we will end up..probably in a ''resi'' telling mad stories that no one will believe.
Bye for now
