peanuts

Hi all I haven't been on for a while. We tend to hibernate over winter as there was just too much snow to get out.

Thanks to Stonehead for his help a long while back. We managed successfully to slaughter two pigs and two lambs!!

I am thinking about growing peanuts.....well why not! All I know is that they need about 130 - 140 growing days do I need to know anything else??

I will be interested in this thread too - I'm considering nut trees for our allotment.

When Chris was was very wee he was thoroughly fascinated with peanuts. So much so that he spent hours painting and drawing peanut factories! Yup - in his 3 year old mind peanuts were manufactured!

My hubby absolutely loves the redskin peanuts, the ones that are unroasted, but we cant find them in France. I treated him to some via mail order, the postage was horrific!, but he managed to save some back to grow. The did do OK and were growing really well until the cat decided to use the box as a litter tray and turfed the lot up!! We just used some peat in a shallow box, planted them and left them outside. It worked.
