Self sufficientish Day August 13th
After a little discussion on another thread....
An idea was hatched, selfsufficientish day. A day that we don't visit the forum and instead use the time to do something more productive, something that you have not done before. Like making cheese, painting a fence that has been left for years, making a solar oven anything really.
We decided that this could be a good idea and so are now running with it. So what will you do on selfsufficientish day - August 13th?

Oh, where's me list?
I have clothes to sew, allotment to sort out and fence, garden to get on top of, planting up in the greenhouse, soap to make, learn to crochet, tidy the house. Again. Learn to make cheese, and yoghurt, and butter, train the dogs, make household cleaners, learn to knit, learn to quilt, learn different dishes to cook........take your pick
I may make this one my 'crochet day'. I need to save up for a book and the tools to do it, so this will give me plenty of time to get organised!

unless we're out and about travelling I may learn how to knit. I thought we would appreciate this long forgotten verse by Shakespeare. It's what Henry V would have said if he hadn't had to go and fight some tiresome war.
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember, with the aid of forum threads,
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-
Andy and Dave, Martin and Stonehead,
Hawthorn and Wombat, Muddypause and Ina-
Be in their flowering beds, freshly manured.
This story shall the good Tea teach her many children;
And SSish day shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But Fee's banner shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of bloggers;
For he to-day that spreads his seeds with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so grubby,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their white sliced cheap whiles any speaks
That knitted, planted and baked bread with us upon SSish day!

Well done, I'm sure Mr Shakespear would be proud of you!

Something I've not done before? Put my feet up and have a rest in the garden - bliss!
Oh! Got to be something useful
Perhaps I'll get on with some sewing or get ahead with Christmas and start making cards! (I'm ducking fast before you throw something!)

Oh! Got to be something useful

I'll (hopefully) be on the beach that day! If the UK gets a summer, that is... So I'll have to think of something I've never done on a beach before... maybe pee in the sea (nope, never done it!) or something? Does that count? Or I could take a jam jar full of homemade glue along with my beach mat and make something pretty (and useful!) with shells and sand... maybe some kind of pot or something?
