Hello everyone

Post: # 9406Post shelly »

Hi, My name is shelly
I live in Stourbridge, West Midlands. UK
I have been passionate about living the Good Life since I was a child, but have only recently been able to start doing something constructive about it!
I have just taken on a half allotment which is five minutes walk from my home. We are in the process of digging it over at the moment, and I wanted to find some like-minded people to chat to, and hopefully, get advice from as to what to do and when to do it!
Since being made redundant, I have time on my hands now, which I've not ever had before. So I thought I'd take the bull by the horns and get going on my life's dream.
Well, hope to hear from you soon.
Take care
Shelly

Hi Shelley,

Welcome to SSF! :hello2:

Lucky you, to get an allotment. Lots of work involved but the benefits will be wonderful. What are you planning on planting in your first year?

Hi Shelly and welcome!

I sometimes almost wish they'd made me redundant so I could get all those things done I'm planning... Shouldn't joke about it. Lots of my colleagues are leaving at the moment - some voluntarily - and most of them are getting stuck into gardening!

Anyway, hope you'll enjoy your allotment, and join us in our constant endeavours to become a bit more self suffish!

Cheers
Ina

G'Day Shelly,

Welcome to the site! If it's not a rude question, what did you do before they made you redundant?

I hope you do well with your allotment, you might try looking at the book - Close to the Veg - there is a lot of good stuff in it for those starting out on the allotment trail.
