ZeroWastePackaging - My campaign

Post: # 96501Post johnhcrf »

This campaign is designed to allow consumers to give a message to the intransigent superstores/suppliers that they have to change and suit our need to reduce bin waste. Their attitude so far is to push out the waste packaging with gay abandon. It is unsustainable.
My campaign is a decision to remove waste packaging from bin waste (compostable/recyclable, food waste material have already been removed).
Tactics include shop local - taking fruit/veg unpackaged, fish/meat in washed plastic boxes.
superstore - requesting a list of ZWP items especially biscuits/cakes which are usually covered in plastic.
Choosing between related products with ZWP the prime consideration.

This is difficult to achieve since plastic is now at the centre of food packaging. I could not find a biscuit without it though cakes were easier to get. The question is could we ditch plastic and use paper, card, tinfoil, zwp plastics (are there any?)?. This vast packaging effort in plastic ends up in landfill and will continue to do so until we the consumer force change. I am in no doubt, if we ignore the problem, as some do, we will leave future generations a poor legacy.
