Do you know about an event that you want to talk about? Is there a campaign you have started, are involved in or want to start? Inspired by Marvin Gaye this is your place to tell the world what's going on.

Slow towns seem to be winning!

Probably says more about the people who care enough to vote than about life in Britain today, though.
They're not weeds - that's a habitat for wildlife, don't you know?

It's not really a choice, though, is it? We all want lovely interesting different towns, but we all get clone towns because the big chains muscle in and the little guys can't compete - or they could if we REALLY cared and gave them all our support!

it isnt really a choice and its not always the cusomerst fault... but I just got angry with the silly comments being made on the tv programme and felt it was a chance to just say ... I hate regular towns and find that most of our shopping including clothing and household goods are coming from smaller market towns. Yes it takes fuel to get to them but We veiw it as a day out as well as getting stuff to live on and it gives us the feeling of a mini holiday ...

When will folks realise theres more to life than shopping ... :?

I'm lucky enough to have an official Slowtowm or Cittaslow just up the road where my parents live in Aylsham. Fantastic butchers, bakers, grocers and loads of interesting little shops - not sure what the new Tescos is gonna do to it all though :S

Johnstone is a slow town but bustling with local and district shoppers. Morrison's are at the edge of town. The town wont be changing anytime soon.
