For good reasons, they don't like people building houses in the open countryside. Having recently got permission to build in the woods after a 3 year process of proving that we have a viable business that requires residence, we would discribe the rules as well-intentioned but overly beaurocratic.

The latest planning guidance means is so vague that big companies with expensive lawyers will be able to argue for almost anything.
