Yes, exactly - it was Balmedie beach at the weekend. I was paddling in the North Sea - but with my wellies on!

Yeah my one isn't much bigger - I'm sure us late developers will overtake the rest soon, though.

How's about subtracting the height of the child from the height of the plant as a handicap?

Well, mine must be some rare dwarf variety I think. Not those ordinary, common ones that seem to be all stem with a few leaves and some silly flower at the top. Mine don't bother with flowers.

The best one is like a small bush and about knee high.

Maybe I should try entering a bonsai contest instead.

sobs... I had two that were doing 'reasonably' well... minute in comparison to Emma's... and not that big in comparison to Ina's... but today the coldframe blew over onto them... and the tallest is severely dented and I doubt it will recover... stem squished under the coldframe.

Ahhhh well...

Sympathy Shirlz! Elf, have you considered that you might not really be growing sunflowers at all but something else entirely?

Oh Shirley, that's sad! You should have pinched one of mine from the tunnel...

Anyway, mine is now heading for 5 foot. It does have 6 flowers on it, though: one has-been, one currently open, and four to come yet. Can I measure them all separately and add them up??? (I'm actually quite pleased with the result - it's not one of those Russian Giant varieties or so, just Lidl's cheapest...)

Consoling myself (CRUNCH) with some home grown and freshly picked salad YUMMY!!!!!! Never tasted rocket that is so spicy and tasty.

Ina... yeah.. I reckon that you should be allowed to measure that way :D
