Well got some book vouchers for xmas - so had a stressful hour in a book store
Got a great veg growing book by Sarah Raven - she has some great tips
e.g -
Don't grow stuff you can easily buy locally from a farm shop etc which taste great - just spend your time and effort on those fresh vegs you like and that taste better straight from the ground. I only have limited time and space so thats good for me
Plant seeds in a builders salvaged 1/2 drainpipe - then just slide them out onto the plot - no disturbance to them so they are happier
Put all seeds etc in a box sorted by the month (use old cd boxes etc) then each month you never forget to plant something
But best of all ......... mole hills ........ steal them , see they are useful after all, basically (oh its so obvious you probably thought of it already) the mole has done all the weeding / sieving / aerating etc so you get great compost to use to put in your pots!!

Yes! You have to be ingenious when you have hundreds of the buggers! They are also useful for filling in the holes that your chickens have dug. I don't know where the soil disappears to that the chickens dig up though.

LOL Firstly, why doesn't the ground just fall in where the moley has been and secondly, I'm with you on the chicken whole thing - perhaps it's like the Great Escape and they hide the soil somewhere on their bodies and then distribute it somewhere else!!??
