Edinburgh Meet

Do you know about an event that you want to talk about? Is there a campaign you have started, are involved in or want to start? Inspired by Marvin Gaye this is your place to tell the world what's going on.

Edinburgh Meet

Post: # 113057Post Annpan »

Had to start this thread again, cause the old one was lost when we moved

Saturday 5th July (yes that is this Saturday!)
3pm Princes St Gardens,
under the Scott monument (it is Scott, isn't it? )

Bring your own picnic and perchance a wee something to share :flower:

See you there :salute:

And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

I'm so sorry but despite the fact that we've been looking forward to this form months and have been really excited - we aren't going to make it  Arthur (itis) has raised his stupid ugly head and Chris is having a nasty flare up and right now can't even get out of bed.
Anyway - we hope that the sunshines and you all have a fantastic time! Please take lots of photos and post them on here!

Aww thank you Annpan. We are gutted  But Edinburgh is only just over an hour up the road and the summer hols are just around the corner - so there's always hope. We are going to see Chris's rheumy on the 14th so hopefully he'll get the message that this isn't under control and do something about it - before I rip his head off and spit in the hole! :angryfire:

Well, I hope you all have a brilliant time tomorrow! I'll be working - not much, but I have to be here; then Baldowrie will be picking up her dogs (which I've been dog-sitting for the week); then my friend wants my help with the shearing of her last 60 Merinos (I'll only be rolling the fleeces!); and really, I had intended to go to the Fettercairn show which is tomorrow...

Did somebody say something about it being weekend?

Thurston Garden and his OH met me, JohnM and E outside the Scottish parliament for a fantastic behind the scenes tour... by the time we were ready to go for a picnic it was pouring and we were a bit late to meet John Headstrong... who either never showed (don't blame him) or gave up waiting (don't blame him) The rain was torrential.

The 5 of us found half a free shelter in Princes Street Gardens and scoffed sausage rolls, sandwiches, sponge cake and focaccia.... yummm!

We had a lovely view of the castle and free entertainment provided by the scabbie jakeys at the other end of the shelter (who, at one point were nearly in a full on fight)

It would have been really nice if more people could have made it but we were a small and happy group

What Annpan said!

And thanks again for the loan of the jacket - must be more prepared next time (i.e jacket and my office keys....the view from the office might be so good as the Princes Street shelter, nor would it have had the interesting language or sweet smelling smoke..... )

And just to prove we were there, here's a shot of some art critique-ing going in in the Parliament

Great photo  Did you get any more? We got good ones of E running along corridors and looking in mirrors... but not any more

E was definitely at home in the parliament... I wonder what she wants to be when she grows up :pale: :brave:
