allotment attacks

This morning i woke up early and caught our local news, allotments in Guisborough north yorks were the victims of vicious animal attacks over the weekend, ducks, chickens, geese and ferrets were unmercifully killed by vandals,alone this is shocking enough but the perpertraters were alleged to be aged between 11 and14,
what on earth is happening to people these days i thought we were a nation of animal lovers,
and to add insult to injury i bet they don't even get a fine or anything,what about compensation for the owners , let alone the shear terror that the poor animals felt befor thier demise. makes me want to find an island and live alone away from the cruelty that this planet is infested with.

Yes Russ, I heard that. I also heard some goats had been killed. One 12 year old girl and 3 boys aged 12 & 13 have been interviewed. I know what would happen if it had been a fox that had committed these crimes.

I always have to be careful to syphon sheer anger away when I read something like this. At least one of those little b******s is in serious need of psychiatric treatment. The others deserve to be poked themselves a few times with a hammer, rake and hoe (apparently what they used on the 100 animals they killed). And then when you realise what time of day this all must have been done, then the parents need to be closely examined for not keeping their brats under control.

I think a few very heavy fines coupled with suspended sentences for the parents (conditional upon their children's future good behaviour) and community service for said Brats (oh no!!!!!!! the poor things are much too young!!!!! - I can hear the bleats now) might be in order. But it won't happen. We'll "understand" the predicament of the children and "feel for" the poor parents trapped in conditions about which they can do very little.

And thus, we'll guarantee that it will happen again somewhere else to someone else. One day, we'll learn.

I'm not bleating! I'd stick them on a closely guarded smallholding, with a few books on how to feed yourself from scratch (i.e. including raising veg and meat), and let them get on with it... Maybe a few loaves of bread for starters, to tide them over until the first harvest.

OK, and now I'll get reported to the police for intended cruelty to minors.

Im horrified by how much yoof get away with,I have been pelted with bricks by kids of that sort of age and Iam heartily fed up of the the amount they get away with.I truly dont think the modern methods of dealing with these problem families work.There is some lousy parenting out there and the diet of mindless violence that is presented as entertainment does not help to produce good citizens either.All good parents must be worried their own children will get dragged into trouble by these bad influences.

Just awful. I have no idea what gets into people - kids - who do this. The liberal, wishy-washy, adult part of me says that what these children probably need is love and help.

But, to be honest, I can't help wondering (just a little) whether six strokes with a heavy cane plus forcing their parents to cough up for the damage might be slightly more effective.

I don't mean that of course. Well, perhaps about forcing their parents to pay for the harm, but not about beating them.

Thrash them... it's obvious. Brit kids these days! That's why I don't live in Britain, couldn't bare my sprogs under that kind of influence. It does seem to be a British pass time this mindless vandalism let alone cruelty. Maybe organized and televised bull fighting in Britain would help.

Yes, this is the answer, force the little gits to run with the Bulls in Pamploma, that would give them pause for thought.

the killing of animals for fun is just sick. not to mention the damage to allotments - all those peoples hard work. i'm really disgusted. but unfortunately it is the state of this country - i work round the corner from my house, but recently i have to get my husband to come and meet me from work because it's too dangerous to walk home in the evening (10pm) as somebody got stabbed in our street last week. really really depressing stuff.

Grrrr - I think you might be right when you say that the kids probably do need some love and attention... and I reckon that both the parents and the children should be punished.

Everything is so namby pamby these days, and because these children are underage they have to BE PROTECTED - FFS what is that all about???

They do eat the bulls afterwards, so it is not just for fun.

I used to live in New Cross, murder a week at least, I used to regularly come out my front door to find I was INSIDE a police crime scene, with all the tape etc. Those two poor French students... three doors down from the godfather of one of my children.

Had a great roof garden though, vandal proof. Not overlooked. Tho the police helicopters used to take an unhealthy interest in it, especially when we were nude sunbathing amoungst the toms :)

Small world! I used to live on Gellatly road, just a couple of hundred yards from Nunhead station. God it was rough.

very small world i used to live in flat 365 lee high road lewisham, probably wouldn't go back to visit, even now in the NE its getting daft, Jane and i are seriously thinking of moving abroad

Lived in New Cross Rd then moved to Lee high Road back in the 50s, not a bad area in those days; Few gang fights after Saturday night pub crawl but that was the big boys not the kids, but I suppose that is it is where it all started. So as they say, You reap what you sow, and the question is, Where do we go from here?
