Re: Derris withdrawn from sale
Rotenone was withdrawn in France last year. I only used it in my chicken shed but I spent two years puffing the powder around and breathing it in and the product was for usage inside the house as well!!!
I would never have used it outside as it kills all beneficial insects as well as the bad ones and I don't like that.

There are a lot of synthetic pyrethroids which are based on compounds that occur naturally in various daisy relatives. Mind you, derris is based on compounds found in Derris elliptica, a legume. There aren't many totally organic and completely harmless pesticides. Soft soaps etc. (e.g. Savona) are about as safe as you can get, but they don't always work and repeated applications will block the leaf pores and take off any surface waxes, all of which will cause damage to the plant.
