I have been given a lovely aloe but it has scale all over it, can anyone recommend a nice friendly non chemical suicide scale remover please apart from picking them off... there's hundreds

I don't know if it's the same stuff but I get a scaly insect infestation on my citrus trees. I found that home made spray oil or white oil does the trick. See this thread for the recipe http://www.selfsufficientish.com/forum/ ... php?t=5108
