what have you got left growing?
picked the pumpkins and squashes (both of them.. not a resounding success with squash!) a couple of days ago and had our first frost.
Now we are only picking ruby chard and perpetual spinach, with sprouts J.arts and PSB to come (and leeks but they are looking a miserable failure again...)
everything else is in storage, or frozen, or pickled, or brewing, or jammed, or chutneyed
or in our tummies!
so - with apologies to those in the Southern hemisphere who are just starting the season - what have you got left?

Re: what have you got left growing?
I have
Leeks, which I have yet to start on.
PSB, seems I have an autumn variety we have only had a few handfuls from it so far.
Turnips, which seem to be fine with the gentle frosts so far (that is rutabaga in America and Swede in England)
Potatoes and onions are stored, fruit is jammed or frozen (except from apples waiting to go into a pie)
I have a handful of beetroots sitting on the garden path waiting to be cooked and a bag of carrots hanging in the shed which I really ought to store more appropriately but it is cool, reasonably dry and dark in there.

Re: what have you got left growing?
we've had about 10 frosts in the last 5 weeks but nothing has been trashed yet.
I still have loads of veg growing -
runner beans
PSB (spring flowering)
3 different kinds of kale
spinach beet
leeks
various different lettuces
radishes
rocket
few spring onions in tubs
coriander & dill
Sweetcorn but I picked all the cobs cos I didn't know if they would withstand the frost.
Land cress but it has been soooo slow to grow there's nothing there worth picking yet.
Carrots
Parsnips
Not lost my dahlias or annual flowers yet or nasturtiums which have taken over my compost bins, lost the blueberry under them somwhere and they are now taking over my currants...
But they are pretty!

Tomatoes )
Aubergines )
Peppers ) in polytunnel
Chillies )
Onion squash)
PSB
Curly kale
Asparagus kale
Cabbage
Brussel sprouts
Celery
Red cabbages
Carrots
Lettuce - bolted a bit but still edible
I list these with some trepidation as we've had 60-80 mile/hour winds and hail/rain for the last few days so I've been hibernating!

I only have tomatoes left and a small patch of wheat that I grew for an experiment. Oh and winter squash too.

Celeriac, carrots, and spuds, all in pots, hope they will all be good for Samhain casserole feast with local venison

Re: what have you got left growing?
My herbs are fine. I need to put the stevia in the ground. The others survive the winter in pots.
My okra is about gone, but still have tomatoes on the vine and a few blossoms.

Re: what have you got left growing?
Still got:
Beetroot
Turnips
Carrots
Leeks
Parsnip
cabbage
and finally my peas are still flowering ! (the tips got eaten off by pigeons earlier in the year and I thought they'd had it but they've taken their own sweet time and recovered and I've still got pods forming !)
Must get round to lifting the first 3 soon before the severe frosts start, I'll leave the cabbage, leeks and parsnips in.

Re: what have you got left growing?
Ooh, forgot about the strawberries, don't think they'll fruit much longer as the frosts are now starting here.
