Does silversmithing count?

I do it because I enjoy it mostly but also I think that skills like these are dying out and being replaced with huge companies mechanical methods of making jewellery etc

My OH makes Medieval Armour too... now I know strictly speaking that isn't very likely to make a comeback in the future but it certainly is interesting learning about all the do's and don'ts of making authentic clothing and armour etc.

There's also the fact that when we go and do medieval shows we have to be authentic and that includes crafts, many make their own arrows and some make their own swords... can you put your finger on a local blacksmith these days? I'll bet not many can but keeping things like blacksmithing alive is an important skill imho.

LOL they clank AND smell of WD40 if you can't hear them you can smell them :D

I'm rather partial to men running around in armour... I've watched many a re-enactment but seeing your very own knight getting a battering really stirs the.... err... blood

my 'old crafts' are mainly to do with wool, from raw to fabric of various sorts

we have made bagpipes, cartwheels, boot and shoes, spinning wheels, longbows, hand spun and knitted garments, jewelry, forestry machinery
shaving horses, camping stoves, furniture and restoration, survival knives, falconry equipment, traditional hand tools and hand made leatherwork
and the list goes on and on,

This is not an self promotion thingy but all are welcome to come and learn something worth while, with which to take away a do again,
