Hi folks, I've just upped-sticks and moved to Berlin from the UK and I was wondering if any of you live nearby and might be able to recommend places to buy good, preferably organic, veg and organic meat... farmers markets, or independent shops or suchlike. I've been shopping in the supermarket recently (shudder) and I'm really fed up of it! Also, does anyone know if there are the equivalent of allotments out here?
Thanks!

Re: Berlin
Allotments in Germany are called "Kleingarten" or "Schrebergarten". There should be some in or near Berlin, as they are in just about every city, small or big, in the country.

Re: Berlin
There were definitely Kleingaerten in Spandau when I lived there
But there wasn't much in the way of farmers markets - just the standard market in Marktplatz

Re: Berlin
Thanks guys
I have seen a few areas where there are lots of small gardens, but not so many of them seem to be used for growing veg, so I wasn't too sure what they were (whether they were associated with apartments, or were available to anyone) Anyway, now I know the name I'll have to do some investigating. Cheers!
