Dyer's Herbs

Post: # 13320Post woolcraft »

If anyone else was inspired to start growing herbs for dyeing, I found the following through googling which specifically advertise dyer's herbs.

Iden Croft Herbs, Staplehurst. www.herbs-uk.com
Nicky's Nursery, Broadstairs. www.nickys-nursery.co.uk
Plantation Cottage Herbs, Pershore www.plantation-cottage.com
Suffolk Herbs, Colchester. www.plantation-cottage.com

Haven't had time to check them out yet. Does anyone know any of them?

Ouch!

I had some lady's bedstraw in a pot until a particularly hot day resulted in it dyeing!

I'm going to a workshop this weekend at our museum called 'woad warriors' (its meant for children so even though my son isnt really interested he'll still have to accompany me!), it shows how prehistoric people used to make paints and dyes from natural sources/plants - sounds really interesting and I'll pass any good tips on!

Nice one Tinks... look forward to hearing your tips!

Hope you enjoy it and hopefully your son will enjoy it even though he isn't interested.
