Hard skin on cherry toms
Why does this happen? Had our first 2 Sungolds yesterday and they were lovely but with hard skin. That nearly always happens to me.
These (and previous ones) are grown in pots and kept well watered and have blazing sun (when there is some) for many hours.

Re: Hard skin on cherry toms
I found Sungold to have tough skins as well. That and them splitting as they got ripe (other varieties treated the same way did not).

Re: Hard skin on cherry toms
It happens with all cherry toms that I've grown although I've only grown Sungold, Gard. Delight, Sweet 100 and some bush yellow variety (though that didn't get it and one year my GD didn't get it). GD never got it when I grew them in London.
Can't really be the heat though cos GD had hard skin last year and it wasn't very hot!
