Greetings from Glasgow

A delight to discover this community! Hello everyone!

I am a part-time urban self-sufficient-er, thinking of moving from windowledges, to an allotment, if I can get one in this city. Used to live more rural and had a fair bit of garden success with all sorts of herbs and some veggies.

My present, and main concern at the moment however, is surviving the slings and arrows of paid employment until I don’t have to do it anymore, which is unfortunately a fairly long time.

I did hear about a bloke in Glasgow who is trying to find bits of unused ground around the city in order to plant stuff. He has a huge alltoment then I guess, perhaps you could give him a hand

I actually had the pleasure of meeting Bob several times when I lived in Norwich and even visited his, well I'm not really sure how to describe it, but shall we say large garden. He introduced me to organic gardening and persuafded me to get an allotment. Great guy, with a fondness for red wine IIRC.

Welcome, by the way. The more cold climate growers the better.

Absolutely no relation to Bob, just loved the name – in homage rather. Is he still around?

Apart from the work bit (mucking about with websites) and growing what I can, and taking great pleasure in cooking wholesome food, and having people over to eat it whenever possible, I do the odd bit of environmental campaigning – anti-GM for a while now. Have also dabbled in the odd bit of writing, not that you’d guess from this.

know what you mean about work - i took a part time job (3 days a week) so i could concentrate on more of the things i wanted to do (self discovery) - i have almost been here a year and so far i have not had many weeks where i am not working full time

oh well i will just have to fit more into each day or learn to say "no, sorry i can't"

I used to work near Glasgow, growing veg and milking goats... The worst was the traffic in the city when I had to deliver veg on Friday afternoon! Do you live right in the city?
