Hello from London

Post: # 14178Post dan_aka_jack »

Hi there!

My name's Jack and I'm a film-maker and scientist from London. I'm just about to move into my first house (after years of living in flats) and I'm very eager to build lots of alternative-energy devices for my new house.

This forum looks great.

Thanks,
Jack

Thanks Nev!

Just wondering - is there a way to turn off the default avatar (i.e. the picture that's not me)? I guess not. No problem.

Film-maker and scientist? Where do you find the time? Welcome! Please build a solar collector out of old CDs by next Tuesday and let Wombat know how you get on

Where do I find the time?!? Ha. I think I find the time by slacking off my PhD and going and making films!

Yes... you're right! Building a solar water heater is my current project!

hello jack and welcome to the forum. You got any films online for us to look at?

The avatars are about for your first 1000 posts and then it sticks with just your own. Been a bit of debate going on as to if we should keep them or not. - looks like it could be getting started again

Hi! Wow, thanks for the welcome - it's very friendly in here.

I'm afraid I don't have any films online right now although I'm hoping to update my website soon. If you really want then I could send you a DVD but I expect that's overkill! I'm afraid none of my films so far have delt with environmental issues yet although I hope that will change soon.

Ha! Good one.

I was thinking about doing something about SUVs, road safety and fuel efficiency. Personally, I really detest SUVs in London and it's quite a hot topic here.

Hi Jack,

We like to humiliate newcomers by making them look like Margo for a while. Keep posting, and you'll get through it. After a while you work through all the characters of the Good Life, and some of us quite enjoy being Felicity Kendal, in a funny sort of way.

Hi,

Hmm... I think I saw a few repeats of The Good Life. The pics are quite cute!

MillyMollyMandy: I prefer "Jack". My birth name is "Daniel" but I've had the nickname Jack since I was 12 and now everyone (except my parents, bless them) calls my Jack.

*snorts* I get that too... I've been Andy to everyone since I was 13 except my dear old Mum... she calls me Andrew. I hate it.

I've just 'got' the Jack Daniels thing!!

Hedgie, I'm an Amanda (barf), same thing, Amanda when I was naughty. My brother drove me nuts calling me Amanda all during those tempestuous teenage years when we used to hate each other. Thankfully we get on well now and he calls me Mandy.
