Tettenhall Dick Pears.
I made this last night and it so grown up ... but the kids like it too
Pear and Cinnamon Jelly.
Easy peasy and so tasty.
Pears… I used Tettenhall Dick pears and they inspired the idea. They are small pears and when you peel and core them there is hardly anything left, so I treated them like quince. ¼ them popped into a large pan covered with water and brought to the boil. Boil till soft, mash slightly then strain over night through a jelly bag. Next morning I added another pint of boiled water to pulp and left to drain.
Measure liquid and add one pound of sugar to each pint of liquid and cinnamon to taste … I added ¾ teaspoon to 2 ½ pints liquid. In jam kettle slowly heat until sugar dissolved then bring to a rolling boil for about 10 minuets and check for set. When set is reached put into warm sterile jars, seal and label.
Had it on toast and everyone likes…
