Christmas Cakes

You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

Christmas Cakes

Post: # 177600Post indy »

Have succeeded in producing 8 christmas cakes in a weekend!! I normally have them done by the end of October but my poor old rayburn needed a bit of unexpected tlc..so the 7 people to whom I said blithely 'of course, no problem' to will have a lovely cake and no idea of the stress that they caused me :shaking:

I made mine yesterday. It's had it's first "dose" of brandy. I was only going to do it once a week Russ - how much do you use each time. I put a tablespoonful on.

Christmas pud this afternoon / evening. A bit late perhaps, but what the hell. Also, I'm making a 2lb pudding for... me. I'm the only one who seems to like it. Their loss.n

You're OK RRE as Stir Up Sunday is this Sunday 22nd November.

I'm not going to make a pudding again after last year's disgusting disaster but which the blue tits enjoyed! I had to chuck two big ones which made rather expensive bird feed.

knowing me I shall be frantically icing and digging out my stock of cake decorations which stay in one place all year and then mysteriously disappear on xmas eve :banghead: In an ideal world however, I shall be calmly icing the week before christmas and delivering on Christmas eve :thumbright:
